about

NTH Volume One

This album consists of three solo single-take improvisations recorded in the summer of 2016. As someone interested in slowly evolving processes and the amplification of small sounds (both personal and mechanical), I hear this album as the natural continuation of some of my previous work in NOCTURNE and NECROPOLIS.

NTH Volume One is about ghosts and heartbreak and words unsaid. The starkness is intentional. I recorded this alone in my office at night, on the cheap; I don’t mind that you can hear traffic in the background. I heard it too, as I was playing – it’s part of the sonic landscape. Listening may be similar to sitting next to your friend and letting the conversation go deep while you watch cars go by late some evening. Or maybe it won’t be like that for you at all. I hope that, whatever your experience, this album speaks to you in some way.

Heartfelt Thanks To:

Ron Stabinsky, for the ongoing, lifelong conversation about what the hell it is exactly we are doing, and how, and why.

Jack Sterbis, for his enthusiasm, support, and advice throughout this project, and for additional mixing on Calle de Cura.

Gigi Sterbis, for her love and support.

Jason Hoopes, for keeping me laughing during the making of this Sad Album.

Wilma Forbes, for her love and support.

Deep love and respect to all my fellow experimental artists and listeners.
